Crispy Bacon-Wrapped Potatoes: The Ultimate Party Treat

There’s something undeniably irresistible about crispy bacon. After the success of my bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapenos, I felt inspired to wrap another delightful ingredient in this crunchy goodness.

Enter the adorable bacon-wrapped red potatoes!

These bite-sized wonders are as delectable as they sound, bringing together the tender charm of little red potatoes and the savory crispness of perfectly baked bacon. Imagine this: munching on these straight from the baking pan, unable to resist the temptation to have just one more.

I must admit, during my recent batch, I ate more than my share.

Perhaps it’s not my proudest moment, but it’s a testament to how good they are! Try this potato recipe out, and I’m confident you’ll be in agreement, asking for seconds, thirds, or even tenths!

Why you will Love Bacon Wrapped Potatoes

They are a super popular side dish coated in a salty ranch dressing mix, that will be gobbled up individually. But be careful—they fill you up so much, and you can’t eat just one!

I made these baby potatoes with ranch sprinkle (a staple in our house for about everything!), but you could easily oven bake with a bit of Parmesan sprinkle, Greek herbs, or just about any other delicious seasoning that you love to mix up the flavors right on top of your potato.

Ingredients

  • small, round red or blush potatoes
  • bacon – My 1lb of bacon had 17 slices, so you can make up to 51 wrapped potatoes by cutting them into thirds.
  • dry ranch seasoning (if you keep canned ranch seasoning in the house, just use enough to cover each potato)

Recipe Equipment

  • Toothpicks (optional)
  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper

Bacon Wrapped Potatoes Recipe

Let’s get started on this super easy recipe!!

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

I personally love parchment paper for just about all oven baking because I hate when things stick to the pan!

Cut each slice of bacon into thirds. This makes the bacon short enough to wrap around the little potatoes from end to end.

Wrap bacon around each potato, keeping the seams on the bottom.

If you like, you can insert a toothpick into the potato to prevent the bacon from slipping and place it onto the baking sheet.

Toothpicks are totally optional but if you are serving this bacon and potato recipe as an appetizer, it makes it easy for people to grab one off the plate as well.

Repeat until all bacon and potatoes are covered.

Sprinkle the tops of each potato with ranch seasoning and bake for 30 minutes, until potatoes cut through easily.

Remove from oven, let set for 5 minutes and serve.

How many appetizers does this make?

This recipe is super easy to adapt.

Just buy as many red potatoes as you want to serve and they usually come in 1 – 5 pound bags of baby potatoes. Just make sure you have enough bacon to wrap each one.

What type of potato is best?

The package of these potatoes said Little Charmers, Red Creamer Potatoes. They were in the produce section of the store.

The bag in the picture weighs 3 pounds. You need about 1.5 lbs. for this recipe if you are just serving it to your family.

If you can’t find that brand, you can also look for new potatoes. The most important thing is to find some really little potatoes. That way, they cook well in 30 minutes.

These turn out to be potato bites.

If you want, you can use a different or larger potato and make bacon-wrapped potato wedges. Just cut the potatoes into small wedges.

What type of bacon is best?

This part is completely up to you. I prefer applewood smoked bacon. One thing you want to make sure is not to use thick slice.

If you use normal sliced bacon, it will cook faster and crisp up better. A thicker slice may result in less crunchy bacon.

How to Make Bacon Wrapped Potatoes in the Air Fryer

I made mine in the oven. But you can definitely make bacon-wrapped potatoes in the air fryer too.

To do that, just follow the instructions up to the part where you put them in the oven.

Instead, lay them in a single layer in the air fryer basket.

Then, air fry them at about 400 degrees for 10 minutes. If you want them crispier, put them in for an additional 3 minutes.
