Peach Cobbler Dump Cake Recipe (SLOW COOKER)

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake is an easy slow cooker dump dessert where peaches are the star! Almost no prep at all, this dump cake can be assembled in just 10 minutes to get right into the crock pot and ready to serve in around 3 hours.

Crock Pot Peach Cobbler Dump Cake

Some dump cakes use vanilla or white cake mix, but for peach cobbler, I really love using Bisquick! It tastes great with the peaches and sugar, its quick to cook, and its inexpensive. Please note that when it comes to dump cakes, they are not cobbler in the traditional sense of a crumbly topping like you would get with an oatmeal version or a cast iron recipe. That being said, this is a super easy way to enjoy a homemade dessert that you do not have to fawn over all day – and personally, I love picking at the cold leftovers!

Here is what you need to gather to get started:

  • sliced peaches in heavy syrup
  • baking mix (Bisquick)
  • white sugar
  • milk
  • vanilla ice cream
  • optional: Candied Pecans

IMPORTANT: When you cook a cake in a crock pot, you must use the paper towel method to make sure that the moisture from the slow cooker does not fall back onto your cake and keep the batter wet.

What is a Dump Cake?

Dump cakes are amazing! They are a simple, no fuss dessert that you barely have to monitor- you dump all ingredients into a crock pot and let cook!

Typically you can find “dump cakes” in the consistency of cobblers and pies and are SO great with vanilla ice cream.

Unlike a pie that you have to babysit round the clock for oneness, dump desserts (despite the unfortunate sounding name) are a great idea for busy holidays that need the oven for other goodies.

Canned Peaches or Fresh Peaches?

Inevitably someone is going to ask me if you can use fresh peaches. For this case, you want the heavy syrup as part of the sweeter in peach cobbler dump cake, so I would say no. That doesn’t mean that you cannot create a slow cooker type peach cobbler with them – you could! But I do not have that recipe (YET!) on my blog.

If there is enough interested in fresh peaches, I will go back and try to put together a new recipe to include fresh fruit.

Grease a 6 quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray and pour peaches into the bottom of the slow cooker (above).

Gently pour Bisquick mixture on top.

Combine your peaches and your mixture.

Place a layer of paper towel on top of the slow cooker and place the lid on the slow cooker.

The paper towel catches the condensation.

Check on your paper towel once an hour and if totally wet, replace with a dry one.

If the paper towel gets too wet, replace it.

Cook peach cobbler on high for 2-3 hours.

Occasionally the peach cobbler will be cooked in 2 hours, but on my slow cooker, I needed about 2.5 hours.

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and top with oven baked candied pecans for a crunch.

Serving two plates of dump cake but enough for a crowd with topping and ice cream, simple easy smooth mouthwatering dessert
Delicious and easy, dump cakes are so popular for a reason- EASE!!

Steps

  1. 1

In a mixing bowl, combine Bisquick and sugar. Mix these dry ingredients well.

  2. 2

Add milk and combine. Set aside.

  3. 3

Grease a 6 quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray and pour canned peaches (with syrup) into the bottom of the slow cooker.

  4. 4

Gently pour Bisquick mixture on top, which will mix in with the peaches and syrup. Do not stir.

  5. 5

Place a layer of paper towel on top of the slow cooker and place the lid on the slow cooker. This helps catch condensation that may appear on the lid. If the paper towel gets full during cooking, replace with a fresh paper towel.

  6. 6

Cook Peach Cobbler on high in slow cooker for 2- 2.5 hours, until Bisquick is cooked through.

  7. 7

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and top with crunchy pecans.
