Why you should make this Layered Hummus Dip

This multi-layered Greek Dip combines a bit of homemade with a bit of store-bought, making this a simple creamy dip that can be ready to go quite quickly.

While you absolutely could make your Tabouli salad and Hummus from scratch, there is no need since stores carry a variety of these items already delicious and in a ton of brand options for all your party dips.

You will spend about 10 minutes prepping the creamy Greek Yogurt layer, as well as chopping up cucumbers, but other than that, this is a simple spread and enjoyed Greek Inspired Dip.

Ingredients

  • Hummus (store-bought- Sabra)
  • Tabouli (tabbouleh) salad (store-bought- Deli)
  • English Cucumber (long, thin cucumber)
  • Prepped Greek Yogurt Dip (recipe included below)
  • Crumbled Feta Cheese
  • Olives (optional)

How to make Greek Yogurt Layer + Ingredients

PREP: Before you start layering, you need to make your Yogurt Dip layer. Don’t worry; this is a 5-10 minute prep time and takes longer to get your items out of the fridge than it does to make this part of the Dip. As a simple combine and stir, no food processor or separate kitchen equipment is needed.

  • Mayo
  • Greek Yogurt
  • Dried Dill
  • Lawry’s Seasoned Salt
  • Minced Onion
  • Sea Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Lemon Juice
  • dried Parsley
  1. Before you get started, first prep your Greek Yogurt Layer, combine all ingredients for that recipe (separately listed above) in a bowl and set it in the fridge till ready to use.

How to make Layered Hummus Dip with Feta

  1. Peel and dice the cucumbers and set them aside.
  2. Starting with the bottom layer, the creamy hummus layer, empty the whole pre-made hummus container onto a serving platter and spread out the bottom layer with a spatula until smooth and uniform.
  3. Add a medium layer of Greek Yogurt Veggie Dip (recipe listed above) on top of the Hummus.
  4. Pour Tabouli Salad as the 3rd layer of Greek Dip – sprinkle it around the top in an even fashion.

  1. Add diced cucumber pieces on top of the Tabouli Salad layer.
  2. Spread Feta Cheese crumbles across the whole Dip.
  3. Optional: Finish with Greek Kalamata Olives or one of the alternative ingredients if you like.
  4. Serve layered hummus dip with pretzels, vegetable sticks, tortilla chips, or air fried pita bread.

How many people does this Dip this serve?

If you follow this recipe as directed, it serves a lot.

It’s always hard to figure out serving size because people don’t eat dips the same way they eat other meals – they grab scoops on their plate or dip with chips without measuring. We could all pretend a serving size is a tablespoon, but that’s unrealistic.

The hummus container says there are 17 serving sizes, and that is before the other ingredients are added, so I would feel comfortable saying that this dip platter comfortably serves 12-14 at a party.

What is Tabouli Salad?

Tabouli (also spelled as Tabbouleh) is made from lots of Parsley, onion, lemon, mint, seasonings, tomato, and bulgur (grain).

You can make your own, at home, tabouli salad (I, unfortunately, do not have a recipe for it on this site yet), but because it’s so finely chopped, this is one layer I gladly buy pre-made.

I buy mine from the deli department, already chopped and ready to go.

What kind of Hummus to Use

Traditional ordinary Hummus (I recommend Sabra- it’s thick and creamy, perfect for dips). If preferred and have chickpeas handy, homemade Hummus also works perfectly for this appetizer dish.

Can you Substitute Feta Cheese?

Feta cheese (a combo of sheep milk and goat milk) can be tangy for some, but it is a beautiful, complimentary cheese for this hummus dip, and I do not suggest substituting it.

If your taste buds say no, try using something a bit softer like plain old goat cheese, which still gives you the delicious texture and tangy flavor in a bit creamier format.

I love Mediterranean foods because they are SO full of flavor.

Here are a few other options that will tickle your taste buds!
